Mudgee says NO to a proposed lead mine

An open-cut lead, zinc and silver mine could cost the Mudgee region's agricultural, wine and visitor economies up to $334 million a year in lost turnover, according to a report by the economics consultancy SGS Economics and Planning.
A community group has used the report's findings to call for a lead mining exclusion zone across the Mudgee region. The report projected the mine would have a worst-case economic impact of up to $2.6 billion between 2025 and 2048.
The recent revelations that the EPA hid vital information about lead poisoning due to metal mining show how important it is that mining impacted communities unite.
